Whether you’re buying skincare products or something for your kitchen cleaning basket, you instinctively check the expiration date to make sure that you get the right product. The expiration date tells you the date by which you should probably use the product but not after that. Some products come with the best before date, which means that you have to use them before this date. However, it will still work afterward, just not as good. Almost every product in the grocery store has a shelf life but there might be some items lurking around in your house, which are way past their shelf life.
Here’s a list of a few of them.
1. Hand Sanitizer
Hand sanitizers have entered the same criteria as keys, wallets, and phones; you can’t leave the house without them, especially now. But, did you know these disinfectants come with an expiration date? The expiration should be usually listed somewhere on the packaging but if it’s not then you should know that it will probably last around 2 to 3 years.
2. Disinfectants
Just like hand sanitizers, these products got their big break during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic when people began religiously disinfecting their homes. Now disinfectants have become a grocery essential! The thing about these products is that you want them to work at their full potential; there’s no point in owning a disinfectant if it only kills 50% of the germs. So, always check the label for the expiry date before buying.
3. Toothpaste
You probably weren’t expecting this one, were you? If you’re someone who likes to keep a backup supply of toothpaste for the apocalypse then you have to worry about your toothpaste’s expiry date. They are said to last around 2 years. However, dentists claim that there’s no need to panic if you’ve used expired toothpaste; it just means that the toothpaste didn’t do that good of a good job at cleaning your teeth.
So, did you know about these products and their shelf life?
